Citrix, CA Integrate NetScaler and SiteMinder

Netscaler appliance will benefit from having robust authentication features via SiteMinder.

Citrix and CA Technologies said that they're working on an integration effort that will consolidate CA's SiteMinder Secure Proxy Server with the Citrix NetScaler SDX appliance. The goal is to simplify device and user authentication through centralizing policy management within the appliance.

CA SiteMinder is an access management solution that offers large companies the capabilities of single sign-on and identity access management to facilitate user authentication through Web portals and applications. Marrying those services onto the NetScaler appliance means IT can discretely manage access even in a multi-tenant mobile and cloud environment.

Availability will be nearer to the end of the year.

On a related note, Citrix also announced a secure version of XenMobile aimed at high-end Samsung devices. XenMobile for Samsung Knox was announced at last week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It's a version that takes advantage of Knox features, such as Secure Boot and TrustZone to isolate corporate-issued devices.

Samsung Knox is a version of Android that's aimed at deployment on enterprise devices, with a slew of enterprise mobility management features like real-time monitoring and protection, per-app VPN connection support, and support for fingerprint readers and two-factor authentication. The version that incorporates XenMobile means apps like Receiver and ShareFile can be more easily validated and trusted on those devices.
