Nutanix Converges with Dell

Dell works with Nutanix to provide customers with Dell converged infrastructure appliances managed via Nutanix software.

Dell and Nutanix are working together to develop a series of converged infrastructure solutions, called the Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances.

The details on configuration are scant on both sites, and all one sees is preliminary information, such as this press release. But what is known so far is that availability is expected in Q4 2014. Beyond that, we can only assume that Dell is providing boxes, likely Dell PowerEdge servers, sporting typical converged infrastructure -- compute, storage and networking services -- into an appliance. Nutanix for its part will be offering the software for managing, provisioning and orchestration as needed.

Nutanix already offers Nutanix-labeled boxes with compute and storage built in, but the arrangement with Dell, which ranks second behind HP in worldwide server sales, means an OEM partnership that's already well entrenched in the enterprise.
