AWS Adds Cloud Storage to Partner Network Competencies

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Inc. this week introduced two new competencies to the AWS Partner Network (APN).

The new Storage competency is earned by partners that have shown success in helping customers "evaluate and use techniques and technologies that allow [them] to effectively store data in the AWS Cloud," according to AWS evangelist Jeff Barr in a blog post on Monday.

Partners that want to apply for a Storage competency must first meet the general prerequisites for being an Advanced APN Technology Partner. In addition, they must have at least one approved storage product on the AWS marketplace that is available in at least three AWS regions. Each product should fall under one of four use cases within the Storage competency: backup, disaster recovery, archive and primary file storage/cloud NAS.

Partners must also submit two or more customer endorsements for their storage products.

AWS currently has seven partners that have earned the Storage competency, including Riverbed and CommVault Systems. More details about the Storage competency, including requirements, are available here.

The new Life Sciences competency is aimed at ISVs and systems integrators (SIs) that specialize in the health care, pharmaceutical and similar industries. Partners with the competency have demonstrated success in helping customers "conduct drug discovery, manage clinical trials, initiate manufacturing and distribution activities, and do R&D of genetic-based treatments and companion diagnostics," Barr said.

Both Technology Partners and Consulting Partners within the APN can apply for the Life Sciences competency. More details, including requirements, for this competency are available here.
