Enterhost Announces Cloud-Based Data Recovery Services

Enterhost recently debuted four new cloud services based around Microsoft's cloud platform. The company is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner based in Fort Worth, Texas specializing in Windows-based Web hosting.

According Kevin Valadez, Enterhost co-president and co-founder, the company was asked by Microsoft last year "about funding a proof-of-concept project to build a prototype cloud service based on the Microsoft Dynamic Datacenter Toolkit." These four cloud offerings are the result of that partnership.

The new Cloud Servers offering allows users to place their Windows servers on Enterhost's "fully redundant" cloud platform, Valadez said. When a server fails, Enterhost initiates an automatic restart of all the virtual machines on that failed server. The customer's software or applications remain unmodified.

"In the past, our clients' servers were tied to a physical piece of hardware. Clients had to scale their infrastructure with multiple physical machines if they needed a highly available scenario," Valadez said in an e-mail.

Enterhost is also offering a new cloud-based disaster recovery service which, according to Valadez, "range[s] from us being a replication target, to us designing a solution that can bring up your infrastructure, in our datacenter, if your primary site is affected."

The other two services are the company's Cloud Desktop (essentially a VDI solution) and Private Cloud offerings. Both offerings are customizable, Enterhost said.

The company is planning to roll out more cloud services in the future, Valadez said. "We have a number of product services in our development pipeline. We will be bringing Microsoft applications to our cloud such as SharePoint and Exchange." The company also plans to release a cloud mobile management app in the future.

Pricing for all of Enterhost's cloud-based services are available on its site here.
