Veeam Management Pack Bridges Interop Between Microsoft, VMware

Version 6.5 improvements include better fault tolerance, new configuration tracking and alerting, and dozens of other features, as well as the ability to monitor and report on VMware environments directly in Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager.

Veeam has released an update to its Management Pack that bridges the interoperational gap between Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager and VMware. Specifically, Veeam MP 6.5 includes the ability to monitor and report on VMware environments from within the System Center console as if those were native capabilities.

According to a Veeam release, fault tolerance has been improved wherein when vCenter is downed, monitoring can still continue as failover switches to Veeam to continue data collection until vCenter is brought back online to continue monitoring. Also new is the ability to track configurations and changes to any properties that might affect performance.

MP 6.5 also has a slew of new monitoring and reporting features for Veeam Backup & Replication, which can be managed from System Center Ops Manager.

Veeam MP 6.5 supports the newest editions of System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2, and vCenter Server 5.5 and ESXi 5.5.
