F-Secure Offers Small-Footprint Security for VMs

Do you have to choose between security and performance? F-Secure says no.

When it comes to balancing security and performance in virtual environments, F-Secure says its Security for Virtual and Cloud Environments offers the best of both worlds. According to the company, businesses face a tough choice when protecting their virtual environments: security solutions designed for traditional physical environments versus agentless solutions based on proprietary technologies. Neither is a good choice, in F-Secure's estimation.

F-Secure SVCE protects virtual machines running in private or public clouds. It promises proactive behavioral analysis and exploit protection that identifies and blocks modern malware and exploit attempts. To optimize performance for virtual environments, it keeps only a light security client with a small footprint on VMs, and offloads resource-intensive malware scanning to a dedicated F-Secure Scanning and Reputation Server.

The solution can be deployed in virtualized as well as mixed and hybrid environments with different combinations of virtual and traditional machines. Hypervisor-agnostic, it supports all popular virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V. In addition, all parts of the solution can be centrally managed via its Policy Manager.
