Oracle Revs Up Exalogic Elastic Cloud

Performance tops the list of improvements.

Oracle has released the latest version of its soup-to-nuts business application platform, Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2, with which customers get hardware, software, networking, and storage in a single machine.

X4-2 offers a big jump in performance over previous versions. The company said that the new hardware provides 50 percent more computing power per node; extreme computing density with up to 720 processor cores, 7.5 TB of memory, and 24 TB of flash memory in a single rack; and 33 percent more storage capacity. Customers can also consolidate diverse deployment architectures on a single rack, including bare metal, template-driven virtualization, and infrastructure as a service.

With the latest version, Oracle strives to help customers simplify deployment. Oracle promises its VM Templates for Oracle Applications reduce deployment time to minutes. These templates, which come pre-configured, tested, and ready to deploy, encapsulate best practices for Oracle Applications deployed on Oracle Exalogic. Oracle Exalogic X4-2 is also certified for Oracle In-Memory Applications, which allow real-time, ad-hoc analysis of live transactional data.

Oracle Exalogic X4-2 is available with a choice of Oracle Linux or Oracle Solaris operating system software.
