New Tool for Cloud, Local Backup from CloudBacko

Simplify backup to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, and local storage.

New backup vendor CloudBacko has announced the beta version of software to simplify the backup of servers and workstations to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, and local storage. CloudBacko supports backup of VMware, Hyper-V, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, as well as business applications such as Oracle Database, MySQL, IBM Lotus Notes and Domino, Windows System, and Windows System State. Organizations wanting to back up business applications that aren't listed can use CloudBacko's built-in command-line tool to do so.

In addition to Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage, CloudBacko supports backup to AWS-API-compatible storage, Dropbox, China Telecom eYun, internal FTP/SFTP sites, and local or mapped network drives. To help ensure business continuity, the tool can concurrently back up to all these destinations, storing multiple copies to different destinations.

CloudBacko provides several key features. In terms of security, it encrypts all data – including file/folder names – with a 256-bit randomized key before transmitting it to the cloud. Flexible versioning rules let you store and track files over time. Organizations wanting to  keep more recent versions and delete older files can set up an automated retention policy; or, they can store all files in perpetuity. CloudBacko also provides a reporting tool that displays backup details for all destinations, including usage trends, backup and restore reports, and warning and error logs.

CloudBack comes in two versions: CloudBacko Pro for servers, and  CloudBacko Lite for workstations.
