vSphere Power CLI 5.5 Improved in Release 2
The command-line automation and management tool for vSphere and vCloud adds a handful of new features, such as support for PowerShell 4.0 and IPv6, and improves on dozens more.
A new and improved version of vSphere Power CLI 5.5, dubbed Release 2, was made available last week on the VMware Web site. vSphere Power CLI is a scripting tool built on Windows PowerShell and containing several hundred cmdlets specifically written for managing vSphere and vCloud environments by way of automation.
Besides the usual fixes for bugs in earlier releases, this version includes quite a number of improvements and features. On the new side is the abiliity to connect to vCenter SRM through two new cmdlets, Connect-SRMServer and Disconnect-SRMServer to aid in site protection and recovery; support for Windows PowerShell 4.0; and support for vSphere servers configured with IPv6.
On the improved side are improved Host and Cluster cmdlets for working in Enhance vMotion Compatibility mode when automating build environments; improved Get/Set-SecurityPolicy cmdlets, which can now be used to adjust security policies on vSphere Standard switches and portgroups; and updates to the Get-Stat and Get-StatType cmdlets that now provide even more statistical information on a number of types.

vSphere Power CLI 5.5 was originally released right last summer's VMworld 2013 conference in San Francisco. Release 2 can be downloaded here.
