Next-Generation HP XP7 Storage Now Available

This week Hewlett-Packard Co. made its next-generation storage disk array for mission-critical enterprise datacenters available. Through a combination of virtualized technologies, HP XP7 Storage purports to provide six 9s of uptime, providing customers with constant access and continuous disaster recovery protection.
HP said its XP7 Storage is capable of delivering 3 million IOPS with submillisecond response times, which equates to three times the performance of its predecessor. By employing XP flash modules and solid-state drives, as well as small and large form factor hard drives, HP claims that with the "consolidation of up to 4.5PB of internal storage onto a single array, one HP XP7 Storage system is capable of delivering more IOPS than three EMC Symmetrix VMAX 40K storage arrays combined."
In addition to improved performance and reduction in consumption power, HP has addressed security concerns by incorporating Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 encryption readiness. Paired with new user authentication and access control functions, a company with a large enterprise environment driving multiple lines of business apps will be better equipped to manage and secure its data, according to HP.
