Unisys Launches New Cloud Management Platform

Choreographer can automate virtual workloads with both Amazon's and Microsoft's cloud realms.

Last month, Unisys Corp. launched its cloud management platform offering, Choreographer. Using public, private, and hybrid cloud deployments, the company claims Choreographer can automate the management of infrastructure that hosts development, test, and production workloads in an elastic, scalable, and highly secure manner.

According to a press release, Choreographer extends the capabilities of the Unisys Secure Private Cloud solution by adding the ability to automate the management of virtual workloads in the cloud on both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Using policy-driven automation, Choreographer directs IT processes and resources of private infrastructures, as well as the lifecycle of resources in an AWS and Azure public cloud environment, allowing enterprises to employ the benefits of a hybrid cloud environment.

According to Unisys, "This approach to multi-tenancy in Choreographer for both public and private clouds enables secure access, visibility and control to resources at a granular level, simplifying the ability to create unique service catalogs with customizable role-based access at every level."

Utilizing existing or new hardware, enterprises can provision a private cloud and manage it, along with AWS and Azure, using a Web-based "single pane of glass." As quoted in the press release, Unisys Vice President of Security and Cloud Products Rod Sapp explained, "With support for AWS and Microsoft Azure, the solution now allows enterprises to take advantage of additional types of public cloud virtual resources to minimize cost and maximize agility."
