Kaloom Software Defined Fabric Integrates Kubernetes, OpenShift
Networking start-up Kaloom announced the integration of OpenShift and Kubernetes into its Software Defined Fabric, an industrialized networking software solution running on white-box hardware.
The company in October unveiled its Software Defined Fabric (SDF), featuring integrated routing and switching and designed for hyperscale, as well as distributed datacenters. It targets clients in the datacenter operator, telco, enterprise, cloud and gaming industries.
At the KubeCon conference for Kubernetes, the popular open source container orchestration solution, Kaloom announced the integration of Kubernetes indo its SDF, along with OpenShift, an open source container application platform created by Red Hat that's based on Docker containers the Kubernetes.
"Kaloom's engineers work diligently to improve container networking and we believe the datacenter networking market will be excited to see the improvements in terms of scale, availability and manageability, said Suresh Krishnan, CTO at Kaloom. "Furthermore, Kaloom is committed to work with the open source community and container networking leaders to contribute innovations upstream that will benefit partners and customers. Our real-time in-band telemetry solution can be used to dramatically improve the network visibility of these container environments."
In addition to container networking improvements, at KubeCon the company also showed off its enhanced version of the Kubernetes CNI, which it calls Kactus. Kaloom said it better sustains mission-critical applications, provides high-availability and supports emerging container networking functions.
