Virtuozzo Virtualization Software Upgraded to 3.5
SWsoft this week began shipping version 3.5 of its Virtuozzo server virtualization software for Windows.
SWsoft has offered the virtualization technology it calls Virtual Private Servers on other platforms for several years. The company entered the Windows market for the first time in late June. The 3.5 release is the first update of Virtuozzo for Windows.
The new version adds support for Intel’s EM64T and AMD’s AMD64 64-bit memory addressing. In addition, it features single-file restore as well as support for scheduled backups and increased network backup flexibility, according to statements by the Herndon, Virginia company.
A “top resource user report” capability provides a quick lookup capability so that administrators can identify resource usage and handle chargeback as well as capacity planning issues. Another new feature enables a network interface card (NIC) to be assigned to a virtual server in order to create customized services.
Virtuozzo 3.5 also supports Symantec Antivirus corporate edition and McAfee Enterprise VirusScan Enterprise. The package starts at $1,000 per CPU.
