Simon Crosby Leaving Citrix, Joining Cloud Startup
Citrix CTO joins two other founders at Bromium, which Crosby said is focused on security and virtualization.
Simon Crosby, CTO of Citrix Data Center and Cloud division, is leaving to join startup Bromium, a company that will be focused on virtualization and security.
A four-year veteran of Citrix, Crosby came to the company in the wake of its acquisition of XenSource, a company he co-founded. Crosby announced his plans to leave Citrix in a blog post today.
Bromium announced Crosby's hiring and the fact that it has received $9.2 million in venture funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Ignition Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In addition to Crosby, Bromium's co-founders include Ian Pratt (also of Citrix) and CEO Gaurav Banga.
While the company intends to focus on virtualization and security, Crosby noted Bromium is not disclosing specifics.
"Bromium is not ready to disclose its technology or products," he wrote. "We are fusing deep virtualization and security systems DNA to build a powerful set of tools that can offer continuous endpoint protection. Bromium does not intend to compete with any virtual infrastructure or security vendor. There is much more to tell, but we have a lot of work to do first."
