VMware Releases vCenter Log Insight 1.5
Update supports Active Directory and includes improvements in content pack infrastructure.
VMware has released an update to its vCenter Log Insight, with version 1.5 adding more support for Active Directory and a number of improvements in the way it uses and shares content pack information.
vCenter Log Insight manages real-time log data from various sources and ingests that data in ways to make it more meaningful for IT experts to indentify and analyze issues. It's technology that comes from VMware's acquisition of Pattern Insight a little over a year ago. Version 1.5 now has support for Microsoft Active Directory, which allows for easier enterprise integration in environments that rely on it.
But what seems more important in this release are the content pack improvements, which Bill Roth, Group Product Marketing Manager at VMware, highlights in this blog post. The point release comes with a bevy of new ways to consume and spit out structured and unstructured data to aid in pinpointing troubleshooting issues in virtualized and cloud environments. As well, the content packs can be shared more readily. Roth said that content packs are free, and some are already prebuilt for Dell, EMC, HyTrust, Puppet, and scores of other systems. In fact, there is a growing community of companies who are contributing to content packs at this link.
