VMware Explore 2022 (Formerly VMworld) Focuses on Multi-Cloud Universe

Earlier this year we got news that VMworld was to be no more as it has been replaced by VMware Explore. Registration was recently open for the U.S. event.

The two main EXPLORE events will be live. The U.S. event will take place Aug. 29-Sep. 1, 2022, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The European event will be Nov. 7-10, 2022, at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona. There will be smaller events in Brazil, Singapore, Japan and China.

A full event pass for VMware Explore will be $2,195 for the U.S. event and €1,475 for the Europe event, with a discount for early registration now available.

VMware made this statement about why the name was changed.

VMware is a company that thrives on profound reinvention. With a hyper-focus on customer innovation, we're defining a new market category -- with apps and multi-cloud at the center of everything we do. This transformation communicates that we are a strategic leader in multi-cloud, shaping its future, from public to private to edge. To help effectively express that, we need to revolutionize the VMworld experience as the center of the multi-cloud universe -- VMware Explore.

The theme of the event is to be around the Multi-Cloud Universe with focus on cloud transformation, cloud native platform, the hybrid workforce and cloud security.

The agenda is still being worked on. The content catalog for the U.S. event will be available June 28. From what I can tell Explore will still have Hands-on Labs and VMware Education certification exams will be available on site at a 50 percent discount. It will still have the Expo center and of course a closing party which will be held Wednesday night 7-10pm. The keynote speakers have still to be announced but there will be over 900 breakout sessions.

After a few years of respite, it will be good to get back with like-minded people at a live event. I think there is a lot of pent-up demand for an event like this and finding a hotel in San Francisco near a big event like this can be challenging so I would suggest booking a hotel for the event early to get a place within walking distance to the Moscone Center.

COVID safety guidelines will be in place and enforced. The exact COVID rules will be updated as the event nears.

You can pre-register for the Explore here.
