The new version of Vizioncore's backup and restore software for VMware virtualized environments,
vRanger Pro, is the first in the industry to provide full backup support for VMware ESXi, according to Vizioncore.
"While other solutions do exist on the market, they are only able to provide backup and cannot properly restore. These products do not incorporate a method to support ESXi without the console capability that existed in ESX," said Chris Akerberg, Vizioncore president and chief operating officer, in a statement. "vRanger Pro is the only product available today that both backs up and restores virtual machine images running on VMware ESXi hosted servers without the need for scripting."
VMware's ESXi is a lighter version of the company's full ESX virtualization platform. vRanger Pro 3.2.8 is able to back up the full operating environments spawned within licensed versions of VMware ESXi 3.5 (vRanger Pro does not support the free version of ESXi because that version of ESXi doesn't include the VMware Consolidated Backup tool needed by vRanger).
The new version of vRanger Pro also features a simplified restore process, according to the company.
