Get Ready for VMware Explore 2023

Last year VMworld morphed into VMware Explore. Last year's U.S. event was held Aug. 29-Sept. 1, 2022, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco while the European event was held Nov. 7-10, 2022, at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain, with smaller events held in Brazil, Singapore, Japan and China. I was able to attend and present at the U.S. event last year and thoroughly enjoyed the event.

This year Explore will be held in Las Vegas at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center Aug. 21-24, 2023, with a live broadcast on Aug. 22 with free access to selected events to those with a VMware ID, which you can get for free. The European event will be held Nov. 6-9 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.

A full event pass for VMware Explore will be $2,495 if you register at the show with substantial discounts for early registrations, so make sure you register early.

The theme of the event is Explore the center of the multi-cloud universe with learning tracks on Cloud & Edge Infrastructure, Modern Applications & Cloud Management, Networking & Security the Hybrid Workforce and Vision & Innovation. I am most interested in the Hybrid Workforce track.

The content catalog for the US event went live on June 6. I will be presenting two sessions this year; How Fat is Your Thin Client? [VMTN2822LV] and Troubleshooting Desktops Just Got Less Expensive, Faster, and Easier! [EUS2940LVS].

As with previous years, Explore will have Hands-on Labs and VMware Education certification exams will be available on site at a discount. It will still have the Expo center and a closing party, which will be held Wednesday night. The keynote speakers have still to be announced.

I didn't see any rules or regulations around covid precautions so I am assuming that it will be up to the visitor's discretion on which, if any, should be taken.

I love having conventions in Las Vegas due to the wide range of accommodations and easy travel into the city. VMware Explore Las Vegas has an event room block at the Venetian for $159 per night plus taxes and fees. To secure a room at the event rate, make your hotel arrangements via the VMware Explore booking tool after you complete your registration. Government attendees can book a room at Treasure Island, a quick seven-minute walk from the Venetian, for $109 per night plus taxes and fees. You must use a government email domain as your registration email address to qualify for this room block. This offer closes at 6:00 PM PDT on July 14.

I am excited for this year's event and look forward to seeing you all in Vegas, baby, Vegas!
