Extreme Networks Announces AI-Boosted Cloud Management Application
Cloud networking company Extreme Networks announced ExtremeCloud IQ, which it claims to be the first end-to-end cloud management application utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence to boost enterpise benefits.
Those benefits said to be provided by ExtremeCloud IQ -- which can run on a public cloud, private cloud, or on-premises -- reportedly include insights, visibility, control, and automation of networks. On the automation front, a new feature called Co-Pilot helps network administrators with common tasks.
"Built on an architecture supported by microservices, third-generation cloud technology and tools acquired from Aerohive Networks, ExtremeCloud IQ ingests over 3 billion highly instrumented messages and events -- and 3 petabytes of data -- per day across its global footprint of regional cloud instances," the company said. "These events and messages are processed through the native ExtremeCloud IQ machine learning and artificial intelligence engine to provide IT administrators with actionable insights, and now with Co-Pilot, automated assistance."
Machine learning is also put to use in the form of ML-Driven Scorercards, designed to help determine client and network states and help understand health key performance indicators (KPIs) by drilling down into indicators for detailed analysis.
Future updates of Co-Pilot will leverage ML and AI to proactively automate Return Materials Authorizations (RMA) of devices found to be operating sub-optimally if they're connected to ExtremeCloud IQ via "Auto-RMA," with the ability to send a replacement for such devices without involving IT administrator.
Noting the infusion of AI, machine learning, and automation, Zeus Kerravala of ZK Research was quoted as saying "Cloud management is critical to enterprise digital transformation efforts. Extreme recognizes this and has put their money where their mouth is. In less than 90 days from closing the Aerohive Networks acquisition, the company has introduced compelling new automation features to ExtremeCloud IQ -- formerly HiveManager -- and committed to expanding the capabilities of the platform beyond wireless into wired infrastructure, giving customers and partners a complete, proven, end-to-end enterprise network management solution."
