Veeam Announces Record-Breaking Numbers for 2017

Veeam Software today announced record-breaking revenue growth in total bookings for 2017, plus other increased numbers, putting the decade-old virtualization innovator on the path to becoming a billion-dollar company in 2018.

In addition to increasing its total bookings revenue by 36 percent year-over-year by hitting $827 million, the software company saw deals greater than $1 million grow by 500 percent, plus Q4 brought 48 percent year-over-year growth with quarterly record of $299 million.

Although cloud has been the "fastest-growing segment of Veeam's business for the past nine consecutive quarters," according to the announcement, Gartner Inc. actually assigned the company to the Leaders quadrant of its July 2017 Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions.

It appears that the expanded partnerships with HPE, Cisco, NetApp, IBM Cloud, VMware and others helped enterprise companies more easily identify, purchase, integrate and implement solutions.

"As enterprise customers consider new IT strategies to bring them forward in the next decade, Veeam makes this transition feasible; enabling multi-cloud strategies, supporting existing and cloud-native applications and providing an extensible, intelligent platform for understanding and managing the data. Veeam's phenomenal growth over the past several years signals customers interest in choosing best-of-breed technology that can help them manage their current estate while also supporting new digital, IT and application initiatives," said Laura DuBois, GVP at IDC, in the announcement.

Some of the major software releases in 2017 included:

• Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 U3, which, according to the statement, provides a complete availability solution for virtual, cloud and physical workloads. The company claims the most recent release extends VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper‑V data protection to deliver availability for any app, any data, across any cloud from a single "pane of glass."
• Veeam Availability Console, a free management console for services providers delivering Veeam-powered services, such as Backup as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a service (DRaaS), to more efficiently manage, track and invoice for these services.
• Backup for Office 365 1.5 with a multi-tenant architecture that enables protecting larger Office 365 deployments with a single installation, while empowering VCSPs to deliver Office 365 backup services.
