VMware vSphere Integrated Containers 1.3 Now Available

VMware Inc. announced the 1.3 version release of its enterprise container infrastructure technology, vSphere Integrated Containers, in a recent blog post.

Available with vSphere Enterprise Plus 6.0 and 6.5, the newest release will enhance stability and deliver a new GUI to provide guidance through the creation of a Virtual Container Host (VCH), according to the blog post.

Improved stability in vSphere Integrated Containers 1.3 includes a newly architected Management Portal that uses an advanced consistency model that, according to the post, "provides faster updates and enables a more consistent view between the portal and the status reported by the underlying container hosts." Support for third-party container registries has also been improved.

With the goal to simplify the initial setup for creating a VCH, VMware extended the existing vSphere HTML5 client plug-in so users have the ability to create and delete a VCH from the vSphere interface. A wizard will walk users through the steps to configure and deploy a VCH, where they can also view the VCH creation log and download the VCH certificate.

You can obtain the latest release of vSphere Integrated Containers from the company's download page.
