Robin.io Collaborates with Google Cloud on Anthos Storage API
This week at Google Cloud Next '19 in San Francisco, Calif., hyper-converged Kubernetes platform provider Robin.io announced its partnership with Google Cloud to bring additional capabilities to Google Cloud Anthos, formerly Google Cloud Services Platform.
The partnership consists of two parts. First, Google Cloud and Robin.io engineers worked together to design "standardized APIs for data management capabilities needed for running data-centric workloads in the Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)." This involved Robin.io giving feedback on the design of application-level snapshotting, backup and cloud portability to "elevate the experience from performing data management at the storage volume level into true application-centric data management for Helm charts and Operators," according to the press release.
Second, ROBIN Storage was "tested and validated to support enterprise workloads in Anthos," according to the announcement. With ROBIN Storage, Anthos "includes GKE and Istio, offering support for running enterprise workloads without having to re-architect them as cloud-native applications."
