During his Build conference keynote on Wednesday, Satya Nadella, president of Microsoft's Server and Tools Business, called Windows Server 8 "the most cloud-optimized OS" being developed by Microsoft.
Satya Nadella, president of Microsoft's Server and Tools Business, made the case for Windows Azure to independent software vendors (ISVs) during his Wednesday keynote at Build, as well as detailed some recent improvements to the cloud-based platform.
Microsoft has revealed that a DNS error resulted in an outage last Thursday of several Microsoft Live services, including SkyDrive, Hotmail, Office 365 and MSN.
SCVMM 2012 RC includes many new features for hypervisor creation/management, resource optimization and service lifecycle management. It's also on a new schedule for general availability in early 2012.

VMware and Cisco have debuted the new Virtual Extensible Local Area Network (VXLAN) architecture, which forms the basis of a scalable LAN for the cloud.
