VMware Horizon 6 Hits Shelves

VMware's desktop virtualization suite, which debuted in April, is now generally available.

VMware recently made Horizon 6 generally available. The suite was announced back in April, with a new unified workspace for allowing use of apps and resources with more simplicity from device to device. To download the free trial and get more details on this release, go here.

Horizon 6 comes in three flavors: Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise.

Standard comes with standard VDI capabilities and app packaging. Standard adds virtual storage, integration with an app catalog and app hosting via RDSH, and physical and virtualized desktop management. The Enterprise version includes operations management and analytics, and capacity management capabilities. It also provides design and workflow tools for automating cloud operations. Packaging options and variations for each edition is contained in this guide.

Since its debut in April, VMware has offered a 40 percent discount to Horizon View Standard owners to upgrade to the upper tier versions. The offer runs to the end of the year; more info here.
