Alpha Release of Cloud SQL for Microsoft SQL Server Now Available
At the end of July the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) team announced Cloud SQL for Microsoft SQL Server available in alpha.
According to Google, Cloud SQL for Microsoft SQL Server will let enterprises "bring existing SQL Server workloads to GCP and run them in a fully managed database service," with the ultimate goal being to make it easier for enterprises to work "as expected" when they move their on-premises projects to the cloud.
"For enterprises, this option means they can now experience fully managed SQL Server with built-in high availability and backup capability," the company said in its announcement of the release. "You can lift and shift SQL Server workloads without changing apps, then use the data from these apps with other GCP services like BigQuery and AI tools to create more intelligent applications."

Cloud SQL is already available for MySQL and PostgreSQL. Pricing is available here.
