NFV Specialist netElastic Bakes SD-WAN Into Enterprise Branch Router
netElastic unveiled an enterprise branch router featuring software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) to ensure mission-critical business applications are identified and prioritized over less important traffic.
Such functionality is provided by SD-WAN capabilities that dynamically route applications while taking into account business policies and the performance of WANs, the company said in announcing the EBR-1000A Enterprise Branch Router.
Other reported characteristics of the router's SD-WAN functionality reportedly include:
- Site-to-site, full-mesh, and hub-spoke secure VPN
- Cloud manageable
- Zero-touch provisioning
- Network availability monitoring
- Intelligent path selection
- Active/active load balancing
In addition to SD-WAN, the router comes with baked-in application visibility that automatically detects more than 1,000 applications. Other features include: up to 2 Gbps throughput; Quality of Service (QoS) policies to give applications a pre-determined, desired performance level; dual WAN functionality that ensures secure, redundant network connectivity; and more.
"EBR-1000A comes embedded with SD-WAN features to monitor all available WAN connections for path performance, capacity, loss, jitter, and latency, and SD-WAN enables enterprises to use any combination of transport services to lower WAN costs," the company said.
The Santa Clara, Calif., company is a network functions virtualization (NFV) specialist, describing its mission as helping service providers deploy customized NFV solutions.
