Virtualization leader VMware sees a cloudy future for the datacenter. To that end, today the company announced vSphere 4, the next generation of what was formerly called VMware Infrastructure.
On April 21, VMware will take the wraps off of vSphere, the next generation of its infrastructure suite currently known as VMware Infrastructure.
Considering using the free ESXi? above all else, give some thought to the storage.

Citrix and Microsoft, already close collaborators on many
virtualization-based initiatives, ratcheted up their relationship Monday with
the announcement of Citrix Essentials, a group of technologies calculated to
shoehorn their way into the enterprise datacenters now dominated by VMware.
EMC and Microsoft formally renewed a partnership on Tuesday, extending their collaborative efforts on virtualization, content management and security solutions for the enterprise market through 2011.
The new version of Vizioncore's backup and restore software for VMware virtualized environments, vRanger Pro, is the first in the industry to provide full backup support for VMware ESXi, according to Vizioncore.
