Xsigo's Server Fabric Switch Provides One-Click Cloud Connectivity
Xsigo Systems lays claim to first fully virtualized infrastructure for cloud-optimized data centers.
Xsigo Systems said it has released the "first fully virtualized infrastructure for cloud-optimized data centers" with the debut of its Xsigo Server Fabric switch. According to a company press release, once the switch is configured connections from virtual machines to resources on servers or other VMs can be set up through a simple interface and one or two clicks to connect and enable the resources. Xsigo's press release keys in on performance as well, with claimed connection speeds of up to 40 Gbs.
Xsigo Server Fabric can be used against networking products from Brocade, Cisco, Juniper and other network and storage hardware, such as those available from Hitachi Data Systems and Nimble Storage. It comes with Xsigo I/O Director, which is used to increase performance by taking advantage of virtual I/O resouces, and Xsigo XMS 3 Management Software, which provides connection management and performance monitoring.
Xsigo Server Fabric availability is slated for end of 2011, and will be priced at $1,000 per physical host.
