Leostream Upgrades Platform with the Release of Leostream Connection Broker 9.0.34
Leostream Corp. recently announced an update to its Leostream platform with the release of Leostream Connection Broker 9.0.34. Among a number of upgrades to Leostream 9.0 are also some fixes that resolve known issues.
Partnering with Scale Computing "to bring hyperconverged VDI to the SMB and distributed enterprise," the update includes "native support for Scale Computing HC3 centers within the Leostream Connection Broker interface," according to the announcement. Additional support for Red Hat Virtualization centers and Google Cloud Platform centers has also been added, which can be directly managed alongside existing centers, such as VMware, OpenStack, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
Improved support for time-of-day provisioning gives organizations "more granular desktop controls" with a predetermined number of desktop instances being automatically spun up and torn down at a specific time of day. According to the company, this feature "is ideal for enterprise login storms, as well as student testing environments, edge locations and shift workers."
On the security front, Leostream Connection Broker 9.0.34 includes support for multi-factor authentication (MFA) for any Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)-based third-party identity providers. SAML is an open standard protocol for Web browser Single Sign-On (SSO) using secure tokens. Examples of SAML-based providers include Ping Identity and Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services. For groups of Leostream users, MFA with Duo Security notifications can now be enabled.
According to the release notes, Apache has been updated to 2.4.38 and the Apache configuration has been modified to use more restrictive conditions. Also, Wake-on-LAN packets are now sent from every broker in a Leostream cluster, to improve powering on machines across subnets.
According to the company, any current Leostream 9 customer can download the Leostream Connection Broker 9.0.34 for free.
