SolarWinds this week solidified its line of virtualization management tools, with new versions of its Hyper9 virtualizaztion management solution and SolarWinds Storage Manager.

Besides updating Hyper9, SolarWinds is rebranding the product as SolarWinds Virtualization Manager to be more in line with the rest of its product suite. The company acquired Hyper9 and its company in January.

Virtualization Manager provides a centralized environment for managing the capacity planning, configuration and performance of a virtualized infrastructure. New features include the ability to recommend best practices as problems are discovered, as well as what the company calls Time-Travel, which acts like a performance monitor that can be used to identify and troubleshoot problems based on historical data.

SolarWinds Storage Manager essentially acts like a storage profiler, being able to view and manage storage across an enterprise, including virtual environments. New in this version includes integration with SolarWind's Orion suite of network management tools, so that storage can be managed within the virtualization infrastructure. It also adds support for EMC VNX and IBM v7000.

Both products are available immediately from SolarWinds, with pricing starting at $2,995 each.
