On the heels of its announcement of new file and backup services for service providers, Ensim is following up with tools to give service providers end-to-end cloud services brokerage capabilities. The combination of Ensim IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) Manager and Ensim Automation Suite provides ordering, automated provisioning, usage tracking, billing, and self-service management for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
IaaS Manager lets service providers create and offer public or private cloud-based IaaS solutions via a service catalog; provides usage tracking with billing and chargeback; and offers a role-based portal for self-service administration for the end-user, IT admins, agents, and resellers. This management tool supports two purchase models: Customers can either order individual virtual machines (VPS), or purchase, deploy, and manage virtual data centers (VDC).
With the VDC model, a customer orders a virtual data center based on desired capacity (CPU, memory, disk, etc.). From there, the customer can deploy any available template, and apply as many resources as needed across any number of virtual machines, as long as they're within the purchased capacity.
Ensim's VDC model was designed with rapid development cycles in mind. This model lets the virtual data center owner fully manage the environment without having to make an additional purchase each time they deploy a VM.
