Microsoft Offers Human Cybercrime Experts: 'Technology Alone Is Not Enough'
New managed security services from Microsoft combine humans with technology to help organizations in the fight against cybercrime.
In announcing Microsoft Security Experts, the company touted its existing security solutions that blocked billions of threats of all kinds last year.
"But technology alone is not enough to defend against cybercrime," said security exec Vasu Jakkal in a May 9 blog post. "Technology is critical, but it's the combination of leading technologies, comprehensive threat intelligence, and highly skilled people that makes for a truly effective security posture."
Three new Microsoft managed services include:
- Defender Experts for Hunting: Experts proactively hunt for threats and investigate findings, providing organizations with validated alert information and remediation instructions.
- Microsoft Defender Experts for XDR: This is for customers needing to extend the capacity of their security operations center.
- Security Services for Enterprise: A comprehensive managed security service designed for large enterprise organizations that need protection for all clouds and platforms.
They join existing services that include:
- Security Services for Incident Response: Providing help before, during, and after a major cybersecurity incident.
- Security Services for Modernization: Experts discuss organizational needs and provide a customized security plan with services tailored to meet specific goals.
No pricing information was provided for the services, two of which will be rolled out or previewed during the summer and fall (Enterprise service is available now), but the new offering's web site indicates free trials are available. The company said it will provide more information in its Microsoft Inspire event in July and a May 12 Microsoft Security Summit.
