Druva Expands AI Resilience Across Copilot, Claude and MCP

Druva has introduced a group of data protection, governance and operational tools intended to extend enterprise backup practices to Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code and other AI-assisted workflows.

The company's July 21 announcement packages the capabilities under Druva AI Resilience, an approach designed to help organizations recover AI-created work, govern the information produced inside AI systems, defend backup environments and make resilience data available through AI assistants. The AI Resilience announcement identifies four principal offerings: Microsoft Copilot Protection & Governance, Claude Code Protection & Governance, Druva MCP and Dru SRE Agent.

The launch is delivered through Druva's Resilience Cloud and uses Dru MetaGraph, which the company describes as an intelligence layer connecting data, identities, backup metadata, governance relationships, operational telemetry and recovery history. "AI Resilience has to protect both the work AI creates and the recovery systems businesses rely on," Jaspreet Singh, Druva CEO and co-founder, said in the announcement.

Copilot Records Move Into Backup and Governance
The Microsoft component captures Copilot prompts, responses, conversations, generated files, cited sources and related metadata as an independent record. Druva said the protected information can be retained, searched, investigated and recovered, with controls for legal holds, compliance, eDiscovery and governance.

A related Microsoft 365 Copilot product post says the service captures Copilot Chat conversations and preserves generated files, emails and other content associated with those conversations. The post also lists air-gapped storage, immutable backups and point-in-time recovery by user or date range.

Druva positions that independent copy as a record that remains available when information in the production Microsoft 365 environment changes or is deleted. The company said legal-hold policies can preserve Copilot conversations and associated AI-generated content even after a user deletes the material from Microsoft 365.

Claude Protection Extends Beyond Project Files
Claude Code Protection & Governance is designed to preserve project state, conversation history, code artifacts and workflow context. Druva said it provides recovery and granular rollback when AI-assisted changes create problems or when project context is lost.

In its Claude protection overview, Druva describes an AI workspace as more than its generated files. It can include conversations, reusable instructions, project memory, configurations, connectors, code, workflow state and accumulated knowledge. The company said restoring files alone may not restore the context needed to continue an AI-assisted project.

The offering is intended to recover that broader workspace rather than only the output stored in a repository or file system. Druva's announcement does not document supported Claude plans, storage limits, retention periods or the precise rollback units available to administrators.

MCP Connects AI Clients to Resilience Intelligence
Druva MCP is an open, remote Model Context Protocol server that connects compatible AI assistants and agents to backup and resilience information in the Druva Resilience Cloud. The announced clients include Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Cursor, while a supporting technical post also lists Claude Desktop and Visual Studio Code.

The Druva MCP technical description says the server uses five multipurpose programmatic primitives instead of exposing a separate semantic tool for each platform function. Those primitives list available skills, recommend a skill, retrieve its instructions, run read operations and perform permitted write operations.

Druva said the architecture uses OAuth 2.1 so an AI client operates with the authenticated user's existing permissions. Scripts run inside a restricted sandbox, and destructive delete operations are blocked. Read and non-destructive write functions are separated, allowing AI clients to request information or perform permitted modifications without receiving unrestricted access to the backup environment.

Administrators can use natural-language requests to obtain information such as backup success rates, critical alerts, application protection status and audit activity. Druva said the operational skills are maintained in its cloud service, removing the need for customers to install and update separate local skills when an underlying API changes.

SRE Agent Focuses on Recovery Readiness
Dru SRE Agent applies AI-assisted site reliability engineering practices to backup operations. The agent evaluates backup-environment health, identifies issues that could affect recovery, explains possible root causes, prioritizes recommendations and guides administrators through corrective steps.

According to Druva's SRE Agent product post, the agent correlates backup activity with protected workloads, identities, policies, recovery operations, administrative actions and platform telemetry. It is part of DruAI and uses Dru MetaGraph to evaluate alerts in a broader operational context rather than treating each alert as an isolated event.

Druva said the AI Resilience products are available as of July 21, 2026, with individual capabilities offered in either general availability or limited availability. The announcement does not identify the status of each capability, list prices or describe licensing requirements. Druva reports nearly 7,500 customers, including 75 Fortune 500 companies.
