Rubrik's Cyber Resilience Platform Is Now an AI Agent

With agentic AI dominating the tech scene these days, Rubrik has basically turned its flagship platform into an AI agent.

Rubrik, which describes itself as the Security and AI Operations Company, sells cyber resilience technology for securing, monitoring and recovering data, identities and workloads across cloud, SaaS and on-premises environments. The company also offers Rubrik Agent Cloud for monitoring and governing AI agent activity.

At Rubrik Forward 2026, the company's main platform announcement was Rubrik AI, which Rubrik said brings an "agentic-first" experience to Rubrik Security Cloud and Rubrik Agent Cloud.

The June 9 announcement framed Rubrik AI as a new way to operate the company's product portfolio. Rather than using AI only as an assistant or query interface, customers can define business outcomes and have Rubrik AI reason and act across the platform to deliver those outcomes.

"Today, Rubrik becomes an agent. Our Agentic Cyber Resilience is designed to mitigate risks from both external AI attacks and internal agent deployments," said Bipul Sinha, CEO, chairman and co-founder of Rubrik. "Rubrik AI will deliver agentic automation to enable resilience against machine-speed cyber breaches and compromised AI agents."

Rubrik AI is built around three main capabilities. Agentic Mode provides one agent across Rubrik Security Cloud and Rubrik Agent Cloud, reasoning over data, identity and the agents customers deploy. Agentic Guardrails add controls through Rubrik Agent Cloud so autonomous actions are auditable, attributable and reversible. Orchestrated Workflows are intended to run multi-step recovery sequences that the company said once took human teams weeks and can now complete in minutes.

The related Rubrik AI product page describes the system as "the first agentic AI system built for cyber recovery." The page says Rubrik AI can orchestrate multi-step recovery across data, identity and AI infrastructure, while executing actions only after customer approval.

Rubrik also provided examples of how the system could work in operations. In troubleshooting, the AI workflow can diagnose a backup failure, recommend a fix and, after approval, execute and validate the next backup. In reporting, users can ask for compliance reports and receive visual summaries that respect permissions. In agentic recovery, Rubrik described a ransomware scenario involving Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint, with the system building and executing a recovery sequence for a defined "Minimum Viable Company."

The Rubrik AI announcement served as the umbrella for a broader set of Forward announcements centered on agentic cyber resilience, with follow-on items covering AI agents in developer workflows, cloud recovery, identity, unstructured data and global systems integrator partnerships.

Agent Cloud for Claude Code
Rubrik also announced Rubrik Agent Cloud for Anthropic's Claude Code and Claude Cowork, describing it as a resilience layer for organizations deploying Claude-powered agents. The offering includes observability, control, Agent Rewind to reverse unintended actions, immutable codebase recovery and backup of the configuration that governs agent behavior.

The announcement included several developer-focused capabilities. Codebase Resilience maintains immutable snapshots of GitHub and Azure DevOps repositories outside the repository, while Resilience for Claude Agents backs up, version-tracks and restores items such as system prompts, tool permissions, skills, CLAUDE.md files and settings.

Autonomous Business Recovery for Cloud Applications
For cloud recovery, Rubrik unveiled Autonomous Business Recovery for Cloud Applications. The company said the solution maps dependencies across data, configurations and code to help recover cloud applications from data to network, identity and configuration layers.

The offering is powered by Rubrik's Preemptive Recovery Engine and is designed to restore a customer's "Minimum Viable Business" at machine speed, with the system discovering applications and dependencies, validating clean points and pre-building recovery plans before an incident occurs.

Identity Resilience and Strata Acquisition
Rubrik's identity announcement combined new product capabilities with an acquisition. The company said Identity Continuity and Identity Roll Forward extend its identity resilience portfolio.

Identity Continuity is powered by Rubrik's acquisition of Strata.io and is designed to keep authentication running when a primary identity provider goes down. Identity Roll Forward is intended to restore identity systems to a clean current state without reintroducing attacker persistence or requiring weeks of manual re-provisioning.

Unstructured Data for AI Workflows
Rubrik also announced the next stage of Rubrik Annapurna, describing it as an AI-ready unstructured data layer for enterprise data intelligence platforms.

Annapurna scans and catalogs unstructured data in place across distributed systems, publishes a queryable catalog into a lakehouse and reduces the need for extract, transform and load pipelines that duplicate data into separate AI environments. The system can auto-discover, scan and index files across NAS, S3 and object stores.

Systems Integrator Partnerships
Rubrik also announced Project Hourglass, an alliance with global systems integrators to deliver Rubrik Agent Cloud for Anthropic's Claude Code to enterprise clients.

The company named Cognizant, Deloitte, LTM, HCLTech, NTT Data and Wipro as launch partners. The company said the program gives systems integrators joint go-to-market support, technical certification tracks and access to Rubrik engineering teams for integration work.

Taken together, the announcements put Rubrik's Forward messaging around a single theme: using agentic systems to secure and recover data, identity, applications and AI agents as enterprises deploy more autonomous software into production environments.
