Colt Expands On Demand SDN Services to U.S.
London-based Colt Technology Services expanded its software-defined networking (SDN)-based On Demand networking solutions to the United States and other new markets.
As the name suggests, the On Demand capabilities of the firm's Colt IQ Network allow enterprises and service providers to scale bandwidth requirements as needed, addressing use cases such as urgent and temporary needs and more. The company says its approach lets customers bypass legacy service delivery processes and lead times.
The On Demand portfolio -- first rolled out in Europe in 2017 and to the Asia Pacific region in 2018 -- is expanding to include the United States, Hong Kong, Portugal and Austria.
The expansion builds on the company's foray into the U.S. market last year, which connected 13 major telecoms and cloud hub cities in the U.S. and Canada. Along with bandwidth scalability, the company touts dynamic pay-as-you-go billing that includes per-hour pricing plans along with more traditional fixed-term plans.
Along with the adopting the transformative SDN movement, the company specializes in other software-centric approaches, such as network functions virtualization (NFV).
"The latest enhancements will see the introduction of 100G ports in critical data centers, end-to-end connections up to 20Gbps and the number of data centers where customers can benefit from a real-time delivery increase to over 250 locations globally," the company said in a statement.
